Frequently Asked Questions

How do you say “tempeh”?
It’s pronounced tem-pay, like satay. Uh that’s a great recipe idea actually! Yay for Tempeh!

What does “Tiba” mean?
We’re based in the UK, but our spiritual home is Indonesia, the birthplace of tempeh (and where we first discovered it). Tiba – pronounced tee-bah – means ‘to arrive’ in Indonesian. After centuries as a local food in Indonesia, Tiba Tempeh has finally arrived in the UK.

Can I freeze Tiba Tempeh?
Yes, it’s totally fine to freeze any of our tempeh products for up to 6 months. Just pop in the freezer while it’s fresh and defrost it overnight in the fridge before cooking.

Where can I find the best before date on the product?
For the marinated pieces and mince, the best before date is printed on the front top film of the tray or on the back of the sleeve. For the traditional block, the best before date is printed on the bottom of the box.

Is your packaging recyclable?
Over 90% of the packaging we use for our pieces and burgers is already widely recycled. We want to make this figure 100% and are working hard to do just that. For full recycling info, have a read of our packs.

Where are your soybeans from?
We only ever use top-notch, sustainably sourced, non-GMO organic beans, which we get direct from our farmer friends in Canada.

What can I make with Tiba Tempeh?
It’s sensational in stir-fries, curries, salads, pasta, wraps and more. It can work really well in most dishes as a meat alternative. Check out our recipes page on our website here.  We’ll also include a few recipe cards with your order so you should get plenty of inspiration.
